I can’t even begin to say how much fun I had speaking at @the.wing in Chicago this past Tuesday night. The best part about giving a “Master Class in Style” was that it was really about a Master Class in Personal Evolution. I don’t give hard and fast rules anymore. Sure, I can give tips for dressing your body type but we don’t live in a 2002 #HOWTO world any more of expertise. We live in a 2019 #METOO (with NO disrespect to the more serious meaning of that hashtag) world of personal expression and experience where your rules are your own. A world of evolution. What I do believe, what I have always believed, is you control the narrative of your own story. Having power over your style is part of that control. But my own evolution and the things I’ve had to face personally over the last 5 years particularly have made it impossible for me to impose style rules on someone else without empathy. Or perhaps just more empathy than I had before. Aging and injury, grief and sadness: these things are inevitable. They change us and our perspective. They have certainly changed me and the way I want to help guide women where they want to go. Thank you to everyone who was there Tuesday night. You made my heart swell with your warm welcome. And a huge thank you to @the.wing. I couldn’t be a prouder member. HAD TO ADD A PS HERE: The last question of the night was what everyone should go home and throw away from their closet to make it a more joyful place and I gave some answer about getting rid of things you haven’t worn in x amount of time. But really, the answer should have been this: throw away anything that doesn’t make you feel 1000% good about who you are RIGHT THIS MINUTE. TODAY. Not things that did make you feel good. Not things that might make you feel good. Only now. Just now. Live in your closet like you live the your best version of yourself: now.
She collected an excellent amount of money from her successful career. However, her actual net worth is still under review.
